How does a photo session work?

How does a photo session work?

Getting your pictures taken can feel daunting. Even more, if it’s your first time. Knowing the booking process for a photo session may help ease your nerves during this experience. While each photographer works differently, here’s what you should expect from us:

1. Choose the type of session you want

This step requires homework on your part to define the kind of pictures you want. Head to Pinterest or look through Instagram to find inspiration for your session. This isn’t rocket science research, so don’t spend too much time scrolling. Start by choosing whether you want a studio, outdoor or in-home session.

2. Choose a date/time

Choose a date, time, and location. Here’s a list of Houston locations to choose from.

When choosing a date, check for weather updates if you’re doing outdoor sessions. We wouldn’t want to cancel your session because of rain. Also, avoid booking at a time when the sun is the brightest outside.

If several people are meeting in an outdoor location for the photo session, choose one that is convenient for everyone. For in-home sessions, if the traveling distance is more than 20 miles for us, there will be a travel fee.

3. Pay a non-refundable retainer fee

Once there’s an agreement between both parties, to avoid cancelations, clients must pay a retainer fee. This is non-refundable, and the amount will be deducted from the total cost.

4. Session day!

That day is finally here! Prior to the session, clients are encouraged to choose outfits based on the theme/style they want. We will send reminders of what you should expect and take to a photo shoot.

The purpose of this day is to have fun while taking pictures!

5. Post-Process

It may seem like the last part was getting your pictures taken, but the photographer’s work has just begun. While clients wait, the photographer culls and edits the best images. For hourly portrait sessions, the turnaround time is 7 to 14 days. For events, it’s 14 to 30 days.

6. Delivery

Finally, your images are ready! Expect to receive a link to an Online Gallery, where you can view, share and download your photos as many times as you’d like. The link will expire within 21 days.

If you ordered prints, those images will be delivered to your home within 30 to 60 days.
